What is the registration number
Areas that are under pressure from increasing tourist rentals making it difficult or impossible for local residents to find properties to buy or rent have created the Numéro d'enrégistrement (13 characters). This number must be requested from Declaloc. The number is not transferable!!! Any new owner of a gite will therefore have to reapply for this number himself! It is therefore not automatically the case that the new owner can also rent out the gite...
An owner who rents out his or her house is obliged to report this to the Mairie. The only exception concerns renting out the property where you officially live (Résidence Principale) if it is not located in one of the communes on the list.
If your holiday home is located in one of the communes mentioned in this list by airbnb, this registration number must be entered regardless of whether your holiday home is a Résidence Principale (main residence) or Maison Sécondaire (second residence).
An additional rule applies to renting out the Résidence Principale in one of the communes on the list: it may be rented out for a maximum of 120 days per year.
Information about the registration number and where to find it
The registration number consists of 13 characters and can be obtained from the Mairie of your municipality. The number is mentioned on the form you receive when registering the rental property. The registration number is also in the Taxe Touristique system. If you pay tourist tax, the tax return will show the number.
If the Mairie is not aware of this number, please contact us at info@gites.com.
Please note that this registration number is sometimes confused with the cadastrakl number, SIRET/SIREN number or Numéro TVA. However, the registration number is separate from this.
Where does the obligation apply?
Currently, as far as we know, there is no nationwide list available of all municipalities where this law is in force. However, we have found a list at Airbnb that may be helpful to you. You can access this list here. We kindly ask you to check this list and stay alert, as it is possible that your locality name may be wrongly missing. Also, your municipality may also opt for this requirement in the future. Decisions on this will be made by your local council.
On Airbnb's list, you can also find right away per municipality where you can apply for the number. Just click on the "Enregistrement" link behind the municipality where your holiday home is located.
It is important to stay proactive and keep a close eye on the laws and regulations in your municipality. Have you now received a registration number? If so, always fill it in with your ad(s) so that you are prepared for any future obligations.
